Overview

Shorelands is a private waterfront association of about 70 homes on Greenwich Cove just south of the village of Old Greenwich, CT. The land was originally a golf course, hence street names like Old Clubhouse and Fairgreen, but became a residential association in the 1930s. Early brochures for Shorelands described plans to erect summer homes for “people of taste and refinement” on this “picturesque, safe, land-locked harbor…thirty-one miles from Grand Central Station...”

Location

A pretty stroll from Shorelands leads residents to the boutiques, restaurants, grocery store and other amenities in the charming village of Old Greenwich which was founded by the Dutch in 1640. The Metro North railroad station, Old Greenwich School, Perrot Library, Binney Park and tennis courts are also to be found in the village.

Ride your bike, or take a short drive, to Greenwich Point Park (aka Tod's Point) with its wonderful sandy beach, O.G. Yacht Club, sailing school, picnic areas and walking trails.

Also close by is downtown Greenwich with its abundance of restaurants, upscale shopping and the Bruce Museum.

Shorelands residents enjoy an enviable coastal lifestyle only an hour on the rails or road from the cultural hub of Manhattan.

Water Access

Shorelands residents enjoy a private association beach and a dock with slips providing safe anchorage for small boats up to 18 feet. There are storage racks to hold the kayaks, paddleboards and windsurfers that offer an ideal way to explore Greenwich Cove. And, for children big and small, there's also a swim float with a slide.

It’s a fabulous place to spend summer days when life revolves around the water but, year round, residents come to enjoy magnificent sunsets, watch the wildlife and take in the view across Long Island Sound to the local beach and New York City. The Dock is home base.

Community

Shorelands has long had a reputation for being a special place to live and to raise your children. Deservedly so. It is a true community. There are many opportunities each year to get together with your neighbors and friends - seasonal cocktail parties, an annual family summer party, the neighborhood beautification day, and Halloween and Easter parties for the children. Community spirit is in plentiful supply and the neighborhood is a safe, seaside paradise harkening back to a bygone era.

Committee and Dues

The day-to-day oversight of the association is taken care of by a group of volunteers who form the Shorelands Executive Committee. Annual dues and initiation fees cover the association’s road maintenance, dock improvements and landscaping needs. Meetings, open to all residents, are held throughout the year to address important issues.
